Many counties in the US require to new construction to include fire water storage. The requirements vary, but the obvious purpose is to have on hand a reservoir of water to use in fighting fires.

Many of the houses that burn could be saved. The loss of Electricity means your electric pump will fail. This failure means you cannot extract water from your well or the community water system or cistern. It is up to your the home owner to ultimately be responsible for your family and homes survival. Water Storage and a gasoline powered pump, will give you access to your available water resources to fight a fire.

If you use a polyethylene fire water tank or tanks, they may be buried 1/2 their height below grade, it is essential that the be kept full of water. It is recommended that you keep the area around your tanks free and clear of brush. It is recommended that you test your gasoline fire pump once a month. Please consult your local fire department for suggestions as to how you can help your self successfully fire a fire.

If you are in a dry area, you should practice what to do in case of a fire. Consult your local fire department, be aware and follow their recommendations.

Fire Departments recognize your responsibility and desire to be your own first responder in a fire..

Polyethylene tanks can provide you with a life long fire water storage. If they are installed correctly and with little maintenance there is no reason a black or green fire water tank should not last 30 years or more.

Again consult your local fire department for suggestions applicable to your area.

It will be our pleasure to recommend additional information on these subjects.
